Agape orphanage is often supported by helping hands, food, goods and money. Last week they received a gift other than these first necessaries of life. Two boxes loaded with books of several topics for all ages. A good start for what will hopefully become Agape�s own library!

That the children of Agape Child Care Centre can sing beautifully was already clear. But there's always room for improvement. That's what Lieke, one of the volunteers at Agape, thought as well. Even after one lesson of a professional singing teacher, the difference was audible.

During the official award ceremony of IDFA last night, We Are Together (Thina Simunye) was not only awarded the Audience Awared, it also received the First Appearance Award, the prize for the best debut-film!

But every now and then something really happens and people want to do more. Go to Africa, make a difference, do something! The rebuilding of Agape is going well! Progress on the community center is going so well that the roof is almost ready to go up. The building is expected to be finished this month or the next.

Few AIDS-infected mothers receive medication

Less than ten percent of pregnant women with HIV or AIDS receive medication to prevent mother-to-child infection. This means that each day, 1800 children are born with HIV.

Willem was born on March 18. Willem's happy parents would love to let others share in their wealth. Therefore they're taking this opportunity to focus the attention on children who can't grow up in this safety and security. Instead of surprising Willem with a present, they propose to support the many AIDS-orphans who live without care and love, but also without practical matters like money for school, accommodation or medical care. Willem could not wish for a more beautiful start to his life!

The first benefit concert by Diemmm for Uthando at the end of 2005 was a great success. The evening attracted a lot of enthusiastic people, the music kept going all night and a very nice amount of money was raised. This success is therefore continued on March 25, 2006!

First milestone 'Coins for charity' reached

Every Friday night Radio en TV Gelderland announces the score to date of the 'Coins for charity' action in their program �Hallo Gelderland!�. Last Friday the score reached the first milestone of Fl 22,000,- and got to Fl 23.569,20. This means that enough money has been raised for the first home!

Project update: Bobbi Bear

Thanks to a donation made by Uthando, 11 caregivers working at Bobbi Bear have completed a renomated course on HIV/AIDS. For caregivers working with abused children, their families and their community, it is vitally important to be well informed about developments regarding HIV/AIDS. This course offered the participants both a way to improve their knowledge and skills about HIV/AIDS, and gave them a chance to think about the impact of HIV/AIDS on their lives, professional as well as personal.

'Buy a Smile' big success

On Thursday February 16, the event 'Buy a Smile' took place at the Amsterdam Airport ROC school. Students of class D4E, teachers and parents had prepared for weeks, but the result was more than worthwhile. In total, over � 2.165,- was raised!

A HOME for the Children of Agape

Hard work and generous giving have led to a wonderful result. We are proud to be able to annnounce that the action for the children of Agape has raised over � 31.000,- ($ 37,000.-). Combined with the money raised in the United States, this is enough to start realizing the rebuilding plans. In short, there will be a new home for the Children of Agape!

CD by and for the Moya family

After the success of the Thina Simunye CD, a new CD has been released. The songs on this CD are sung by children of the Moya family. After losing both their parents, they are struggling to make a living. By buying the Moya CD, you support the Moya's and families like them!

Coins for charity

Research has shown that there is still a total of 1.4 billion guldens (approx. 635 million euro or 760 million US$) present in Holland. Local broadcaster Radio en TV Gelderland therefore started a campaign to collect this money for Uthando. On January 20, the amount collected was already Fl 1.849,95 (approx. $ 11500,-)!
