Agape rebuilding update
Agape's rebuilding is really starting to take shape. Where there were only drawings a couple of months ago, buildings are now rising up.
Main building
The picture on the right shows the main building. This will serve as a community centre where workshops, trainings, medical services, prevention courses, etc. will be provided to the community surrounding Agape.
The picture on the left shows the same building, but from a different angle. In the foreground you can still see parts of the old Agape that weren't damaged in the fire. The difference in size is clearly visible in this picture.
Prefab home
The main building will be surrounded by smaller houses. These will form the permanent homes of the children with a housemother in each home. Because of permits and costs, the possibility of prefab-homes were first researched. These completed buildings can be placed without a permit. As a test, one house has been purchased, serving as office and home of director and housemother Pamela.
Stenen huisjes
Recent developments have changed the circumstances, allowing us to build brick houses after all. This means that the other homes, where the children will live, can be put up as brick houses. These are slightly bigger, easier to customize and more homely. In the picture on the left the building of the first house can be seen. In this house, six to eight children will live with their housemother. Idea behind this set-up is to create a more normal situation for the children to grow up in. Additional advantage is that the children can live in the houses as soon as they are finished, and that as many can be built as money permits.
