Children and HIV/AIDS

Children are becoming the innocent victim of the HIV/AIDS-crisis more and more. Research has shown that the death of one or both parents has an enormous impact on the life of a child. In the case of HIV/AIDS-infection, parents often die shortly after one another, leaving the children alone.

The psychological pressure these children live with is incredible. They are not only confronted with the death of their parents, they often become responsible for the family income and taking care of younger brothers and sisters too. This diminishes the chance of a good future even further.

It is not hard to imagine what this does to a child that is not yet 15. The stories on this website speak for themselves. Uthando dedicates itself to these children. By providing care, love, education and everything else they need to get their lives back on track and to give them an honest chance of a good future. Help us do this!
