Education fund
Many children in poor areas of South Africa don't have the opportunity to go to school. Poverty prevents their parents from being able to pay for school fees, or children can not go to school because their help is needed at home.
Uthando is working on an education fund that enables these children to receive an education. The project is quite far advanced; early January of 2006, the first children will be able to go to school. To raise as many funds as possible for the education, the project will be set up internationally: in the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States, organizations will collaborate with Uthando to work on the education fund.
What will be done with money in the fund?
With the money in the education fund, the following things will be provided for underprivileged children:
- School fees, for both primay and high schools
- School uniforms, required at most South African schools
- Schoolbookds
- Stationary
