Projects
To realize our objectives, Uthando starts and supports a number of projects in South Africa. Currently, the projects below are supported by Uthando.
Besides the projects listed and other one-time grants, Uthando has a number of projects that have not yet started. If you wish to obtain more information about these projects, please contact us.
Agape orphanage
Agape is a care center for AIDS-orphans in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. In January 2005 it was struck by a devastating fire, that destroyed most of the center. Together with a number of partners, Uthando is working making the rebuilding of Agape possible.
Bobbi Bear
The statistics of child rape in South Africa have risen dramatically over the past years. Filing charges is not easy, since it usually takes hours and usually takes place without professional guidance. Bobbi Bear project offers a therapeutic method to guide children after their traumatic experience.
Education fund
This project gives children that live in poverty the opportunity to go to school, to be educated and in this way offer them an opportunity for a better future.
Abandoned baby home (finished)
To provide for the growing number of abandoned babies in South Africa, Lean on Me has started a home that takes care of these babies.
